Hapcheon-gun Conducts Gender Equality Awareness Education for Senior University Students
Improving Awareness of Gender Discrimination and Gender Role Stereotypes in Daily Life and Preventing Violence
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 20th that it will conduct a total of six sessions of gender equality awareness education for 175 students of the local senior college by September 8, in collaboration with the Gyeongnam Women's Family Foundation.
This education is part of the policy to spread a culture of gender equality and improve gender sensitivity among residents. On the first day, Lee Seo-bun, an instructor from the Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion, conducted gender equality education focusing on concrete examples that elderly people can easily understand, such as improving awareness of gender discrimination and gender role stereotypes in daily life, violence prevention, and understanding of gender equality.
An elderly participant in the education said, "Through the education, I realized that I had gender stereotypes that I had not been aware of," and added, "For a happy family and old age, I will try to recognize and consider each other as we are."
