Ministry of Unification: "Construction of Video Reunion Center for Separated Families to Finish This Month... 'Chuseok Reunion' Undecided"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced that the additional construction of video reunion rooms for separated families between the South and North Korea will be completed within this month. However, regarding whether the video reunions for separated families will be held during the Chuseok holiday in September, the ministry stated that "nothing has been decided yet."
At a regular briefing on the 20th, Deputy Spokesperson Cha Deok-cheol of the Ministry of Unification said, "The expansion construction of the video reunion rooms will be completed within August."
Deputy Spokesperson Cha said, "It is very important to promote the expansion of video reunion rooms in advance so that they can be immediately implemented whenever inter-Korean relations are restored," but regarding the possibility of holding video reunions for separated families during Chuseok, he replied, "Nothing has been decided yet."
