Hwasun-gun Conducts Training for 'Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group'

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) recently announced on the 19th that it has strengthened the policy capabilities of the citizen participation group for women-friendly city through the recent ‘Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group Capacity Building Education.’

This education, entrusted to the Jeonnam Women and Family Foundation, was attended by 40 members of the citizen participation group and was conducted seven times in total from the end of June to the 17th.

Along with theoretical education on understanding gender-responsive budgeting and gender impact assessment, monitoring methods, and indicator selection and application, practical monitoring of the county office facility spaces from a gender perspective was also conducted.

In addition, the program was carried out through various methods such as ZOOM education while complying with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.

The citizen participation group plans to take a more active role in this year’s women-friendly city projects, including operating ‘Women Safety Keeper Houses’ and monitoring activities.

The county plans to promote a benchmarking workshop on best practices of women-friendly cities once the COVID-19 social distancing measures are eased.

A county official said, “We hope this education will be very helpful to the women-friendly city citizen participation group,” and added, “We will continue to activate women’s participation in policy and support citizens to actively participate as the main agents in creating a women-friendly city.”
