Yongin City to Award Scholarships to Middle, High, and University Students from Lower-Income Families... Applications Open from the 23rd
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will provide scholarships to 150 middle and high school students and university students from the lower-income bracket.
On the 19th, Yongin City announced that this year it will select a total of 150 students, including 60 middle school students, 60 high school students, and 30 university students, and provide scholarships of 300,000 KRW for middle and high school students and 500,000 KRW for university students.
To this end, applications will be accepted from the 23rd to the 27th of this month through the administrative welfare centers in charge of the applicants' residential areas, targeting middle and high school students or university students who are basic livelihood security recipients or legally classified as lower-income bracket within the city. After screening by the Self-Support Fund Management Committee, the final recipients will be selected, and scholarships will be awarded next month.
Since 2017, the city has been selecting academically outstanding middle and high school students and university students from households receiving basic livelihood security or legally classified as lower-income bracket annually using the self-support fund to provide scholarships.
Up to last year, a total of 750 students have received 550 million KRW in support.

A city official emphasized, "Since 2004, Yongin City has been operating the self-support fund to promote the livelihood stability of low-income residents and support self-sufficiency," adding, "We will carefully ensure that this scholarship program is provided to students who truly need it."
