LG Uplus Donates 'Thousand Won Love' Fund to Children of Cheonan Ship Heroes
Donation of 1,000 KRW Monthly Collected by Employees Delivered to Children of Cheonan Ship Heroes
Funds Raised Through Employee Walking Campaign... Supporting Vulnerable Elderly During Summer
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 17th that the funds raised through the "Love of One Thousand Won" campaign, in which employees not only donate but also directly participate in selecting beneficiaries, were delivered to the children of the late Sergeant Jeong Jong-yul, one of the 46 Cheonan War heroes.
"Love of One Thousand Won" is a micro-donation campaign that deducts 1,000 won from the salaries of participating employees every month to accumulate funds, which are then delivered to families in need. It helps break the burdening perception of donations and contributes to spreading the value of sharing by enabling many employees to participate with minimal economic and time investment.
The donation was delivered to the children of the Cheonan War hero recommended directly by employees. The beneficiary is a first-year high school student, child of the late Sergeant Jeong Jong-yul, one of the 46 Cheonan War heroes, who recently lost their mother. The donation, delivered through the Cheonan Foundation, will be used for tuition support and other expenses.
Additionally, LG Uplus continues to promote social contribution activities linking employees' active lifestyle support with assistance for vulnerable groups. Previously, 500 employees from LG Uplus's Network Business Division participated in the "Walking Challenge" to raise donation funds.
