[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Hwang Kyo-ahn, former leader of the United Future Party (now People Power Party), sharply criticized the Moon Jae-in administration on the 12th regarding the sale of former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye's residences, saying, "Does the Moon Jae-in regime have no blood or tears?"
In a post on his Facebook on the same day, former leader Hwang said, "This is too much. They say even the law has tears. But the law under the Moon Jae-in administration has neither blood nor tears."
He opened by saying, "Recently, news of the sale of former President Lee Myung-bak's residence was made public," adding, "I could feel the lament and anger of the family left in a remote situation."
He continued, "Today, I also heard the news that former President Park Geun-hye's residence was sold. To my knowledge, she did not receive a single penny for herself," and said, "Now, literally, she has become someone 'without a house or property.'"
He then questioned, "Was it that urgent?" and asked, "Is there no minimum consideration to allow living in the confiscated national property until the end of life?"
Former leader Hwang also criticized, "I have heard that the finances are precarious due to indiscriminate handouts, but is it really necessary to sell the aged former president's residence so urgently to maintain the finances?"
Furthermore, he asked, "Is it that there is no place to stay after release, so a pardon cannot be granted?" and questioned, "How do you plan to handle such a situation if it happens later?"
Earlier that day, according to the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) public asset disposal system Onbid, the former President Park's residence in Naegok-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, which was put up for auction, was sold for 3.864 billion KRW. This price is 698.46 million KRW higher than the appraised minimum bid price of 3.16554 billion KRW.
