[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Daeya Cultural Festival Committee in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, announced on the 12th that they held a meeting at the Cultural and Arts Center regarding the hosting of the 37th Daeya Cultural Festival.
The Daeya Cultural Festival, held annually, has been canceled along with the 32nd Residents' Day and the 40th Residents' Sports Festival due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), as decided by the executive committee members.
Jeon Seok-cheol, chairman of the Daeya Cultural Festival Committee, stated, "Following last year, this year's event was also canceled due to COVID-19, which greatly impacts the local community and organizations. However, in the greater interest of preventing the spread of COVID-19 and supporting the government's efforts, we decided to cancel the events for the safety of the residents. Instead, we will hold a memorial rite for General Jukjuk to replace the event."
