Late-night drinking parties persist despite Level 4 distancing... Over 50 caught in Gwanak and Songpa districts
[Asia Economy Reporters Byungdon Yoo, Jeongyun Lee] Entertainment venue owners and customers who violated quarantine rules and held drinking parties late at night in the Seoul area were caught in large numbers.
According to the police on the 12th, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul cracked down on 25 people including the owner, employees, and customers at an entertainment venue in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu around 1:55 a.m. that day on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
The police received a report around 11 p.m. the previous day stating, "Men are watching the front of the establishment and operating," and after confirming customers entering, forcibly opened the entrance door of the venue together with the fire department. Among the customers caught that day was a man wanted on charges including sexual assault.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul also received a report at 12:21 a.m. that day and caught 27 people including a man in his 30s, owner A, employees, and customers at an unauthorized underground bar in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu.
The police and fire authorities forcibly opened the bar door and entered to catch the owner and customers inside.
The police plan to investigate two owners including A on charges of violating the Food Sanitation Act (unauthorized business) for operating the unauthorized bar.
