Gochang-gun, All-Out Effort to Prevent African Swine Fever Through Quarantine Measures

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 12th that it will strengthen quarantine measures to block the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) into local farms.

The county is operating an African Swine Fever quarantine situation room to focus administrative efforts on preventing the entry of ASF by monitoring disease occurrence trends and immediately guiding reporting when suspected animals are found.

By mobilizing 31 dedicated farm officials, the county is also strengthening promotion of farm quarantine measures through phone surveillance and text messages, as well as SNS, regarding major clinical symptoms (high fever, congestion, cyanosis, etc.).

The Heungdeok-myeon base disinfection facility is also being operated continuously to ensure thorough disinfection of livestock-related vehicles.

In addition, the county plans to conduct ASF quarantine inspections for 31 pig farms in the area by the 20th of this month and prepare measures to control vehicle entry within breeding facilities.

The county plans to continuously encourage voluntary installation of strengthened quarantine guidelines such as fences inside and outside the barns and ante-rooms of barns.

A county official said, “We ask pig farms to strictly follow farm disinfection guidelines and also make efforts in personal hygiene management to prevent the entry of ASF contamination sources.”
