Jeonnam Province Issues Administrative Order for COVID Testing of Coastal Fishery Crew Upon Entry and Exit
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has issued an administrative order for COVID-19 diagnostic testing upon departure and arrival of nearshore fishing crew members.
The province announced on the 11th that it will strengthen the mandatory diagnostic testing administrative order for vulnerable quarantine facilities and will strictly respond to a series of acts that undermine the quarantine system and threaten the safety of residents.
This measure comes in response to recent cases of mass infections among nearshore fishing crew members in Yeosu, Jindo, Mokpo, and other areas.
Accordingly, nearshore fishing vessel workers are required to undergo diagnostic testing once a week, with the principle of “testing within 72 hours before departure and on the day of arrival.”
However, vessels that have been tested upon arrival and depart again within 7 days are exempt from testing. If arrival occurs after the operating hours of health centers or screening clinics, testing can be done by the next day.
The mandatory testing targets include ▲ vessels entering and leaving nearshore fishing ▲ entertainment facilities such as bars, karaoke rooms, and clubs (nightclubs) ▲ bathhouse businesses under the “Public Hygiene Management Act” ▲ workplaces employing foreigners ▲ registered sports facilities under the “Act on Installation and Use of Sports Facilities” ▲ and unregistered sports facilities. Related business owners and workers must undergo diagnostic testing once a week.
Additionally, workers at academies and private tutoring centers under the “Act on Establishment, Operation, and Private Tutoring of Academies” are also encouraged to actively undergo testing.
Kang Young-gu, Director of the Health and Welfare Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “This administrative order is a preemptive response considering the nationwide spread of infection and the increase in confirmed cases within the province. We hope that the relevant subjects strictly comply with the weekly diagnostic testing order to block the spread of COVID-19.”
Along with this, the province plans to strictly respond with a zero-tolerance policy to quarantine violators such as those who leave self-quarantine without permission or conceal facts or provide false statements during epidemiological investigations.
