"Supporting Independent Youth's Standalone Journey, 'Hope Didimdol Jeonbuk Center' is with You!"
Jeonbuk Province, Samsung Electronics, Community Chest of Korea, and Good Neighbors Participate, Opening on the 10th
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The ‘Hope Stepping Stone Jeonbuk Center,’ established by four organizations including Jeonbuk Province, Samsung Electronics, the Community Chest of Korea, and Good Neighbors, opened its doors on the 10th.
The Hope Stepping Stone Jeonbuk Center, consisting of 22 living rooms, 4 experience rooms, and office spaces, will play a role in supporting the independence of children and youth aging out of care (young adults preparing for independence).
In particular, it plans to support about 340 protected children and youth annually through projects such as ‘Independent Living,’ which provides 1:1 customized management tailored to the characteristics of children and youth aging out of care; ‘Preparation for Independence,’ which helps middle and high school students whose care period has not ended yet find their aptitude and strengthen the competencies necessary for independence such as career education; and ‘Independence Experience,’ which allows them to experience independence in advance.
The opening of this center is especially meaningful as it coincides with the recent government announcement of the ‘Strengthening Support for Young Adults Preparing for Independence’ plan, which includes six major initiatives: extension of protection periods for young adults preparing for independence, establishment of an independence support delivery system, strengthening income and housing safety nets, expansion of independence education, expansion of psychological and emotional support, and solidification of institutional foundations, according to Jeonbuk Province.
Governor Song Ha-jin said, “Through the Hope Stepping Stone Jeonbuk Center, I hope that young adults preparing for independence will grow into responsible individuals who take charge of their own lives, and Jeonbuk Province will walk alongside them until they grow into adults who create a better world.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Hope Stepping Stone’ integrated independence support project is a program that provides children and youth aging out of care with housing space along with customized counseling, education, and integrated case management to help them fully prepare for independence.
Jeonbuk Province was selected for Samsung Electronics’ 5 billion won designated donation public offering project last year, and from 2021 to 2023, designated the social welfare corporation Good Neighbors as the project executing agency, and has been promoting the project since January this year, including site selection.
