Ministry of Unification, "No Prejudice on Kim Yo-jong's Criticism Statement, Preparing for All Possibilities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Unification stated on the 10th that it will not prejudge North Korea's intentions regarding the statement by Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers' Party of Korea, condemning the start of the South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises, and will prepare for all possibilities.
An official from the Ministry of Unification said, "Today’s statement by Deputy Director Kim is seen as a reiteration of North Korea’s existing position on the South Korea-U.S. joint exercises, following the statement on the 1st," and added, "We will not prejudge the intent of the statement or North Korea’s future responses at this point, but will closely monitor North Korea’s attitude and prepare for all possibilities."
Regarding the possibility of provocations by North Korea, the official said, "We will not prejudge," emphasizing, "The important thing is that under no circumstances should tensions on the Korean Peninsula escalate."
He also stated, "Even after the release of such a statement, the regular communication through the Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office was conducted stably today," and "There was no particular discussion related to Deputy Director Kim’s statement or recent issues during the call."
