Geochang-gun Provides Free Drinking Water at Bus Stops and Other Locations for Heatwave Response
Ice and Drinking Water Supply at 4 Locations Including Geochang County Office Front, Geochang Library Fountain, and Bus Stops
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, amid the ongoing heatwave, has installed ice boxes at four locations frequently used by the elderly: in front of Geochang County Office, the Geochang Library fountain, the Nonghyup Central Association bus stop, and the Daegyeong General Decoration bus stop, supplying ice and drinking water.
According to the county on the 6th, drinking water is supplied twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, with ice and Dalgang water placed in the ice boxes installed at each location.
The Dalgang water provided is tap water produced after advanced water purification treatment at the Geochang Water Purification Plant and is supplied free of charge to alleviate residents' inconvenience such as water outages.
Additionally, to respond to the heatwave, the county operates 14 heatwave parasol locations with 650 units, 23 shade shelters, and 554 rest areas. They have also distributed 150 portable fans to heatwave-vulnerable groups and placed 450 first aid kits in cooling shelters.

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, stated, “As the hot heatwave continues day after day, we are concerned about the health of our residents. The county will implement various heatwave response and prevention measures to protect the health of our citizens.”
