View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] One additional confirmed case has emerged at the luxury goods store in Shinsegae Department Store Centum City branch in Busan, where a cluster infection occurred, but the diagnostic testing of approximately 1,600 visitors has been slow.
Busan City announced on the 31st that one employee who was in quarantine at the luxury goods store in Shinsegae Department Store Centum City branch tested positive for COVID-19.
After the first confirmed case of an employee at the department store on the 28th, two employees tested positive on the 29th, two employees on the 30th, and five acquaintances of employees were confirmed positive.
Thus, the total number of confirmed cases related to the department store branch is 11, including six employees and five acquaintances of employees.
As of midnight the previous day, only 284 visitors related to the store have undergone diagnostic testing.
All test results for the 284 individuals came back negative.
According to health authorities, there are 56 employees at the store and approximately 1,600 visitors.
The number of diagnostic tests conducted is about 17.7%, raising concerns about a potential large-scale spread.
A total of 61 department store employees, including those from the store, and 101 visitors are currently under self-quarantine.
Health authorities plan to review the scope of self-quarantine further through epidemiological investigations.
