Sharing Expertise on Newlywed Couple Statistics and More with Mongolia National Statistics Office

View original image[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Statistics Korea announced on the 29th that it held the 17th Statistical Cooperation Meeting with the National Statistical Office of Mongolia on the afternoon of the 28th and transferred Korea's know-how, including newlywed couple statistics. The meeting was held at the request of the Mongolian side.
At the meeting, Statistics Korea shared its know-how on building administrative data databases (DB). As practical cases using the DB, it introduced statistics on for-profit corporations and newlywed couples.
It also conveyed to the Mongolian Statistical Office cases of promoting the construction of integrated registries such as the Child Register, which is data on child-rearing environments, as well as recently established Nowcast Portal and K-Statistics System.
The Mongolian side introduced the status of government-integrated DB construction, corporate statistics using administrative data, resident registration, and population trend statistics.
The two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation through support such as system infrastructure construction and linkage with official development assistance (ODA) projects in the field of human capacity building.
Kim Kwangseop, Deputy Director of Statistics Korea, said, "We are pleased to continue bilateral cooperation with the Mongolian Statistical Office on the occasion of the 815th anniversary of the founding of the Mongol Empire and the 100th anniversary of the independence declaration," adding, "We hope the two countries will further solidify the strategy for building and utilizing government-wide administrative data DBs and establish a more concrete and practical cooperation foundation."

Batdavaa, Director General of the Mongolian Statistical Office, responded, "Mongolia annually receives advanced statistical compilation techniques from Korea through bilateral meetings, including population and housing censuses, administrative data, and statistics using big data," and said, "We hope to continuously share advanced technologies and methodologies of Statistics Korea."
