Heatwave and Tropical Nights... Heavy Showers Tonight and Tomorrow Afternoon in the Seoul Metropolitan Area

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Amid continuing heatwaves and tropical nights, showers are expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions on the night of the 28th and the afternoon of the 29th.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced that until tonight, localized showers accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, southern Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong region, inland Jeolla region, and western inland Gyeongsang region.
On the 29th, from afternoon to evening, localized showers with thunder and lightning are expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and inland Jeonbuk.
The expected rainfall from the showers is 5 to 50 mm on the 28th in the Seoul metropolitan area, southern Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong region, inland Jeolla region, and western inland Gyeongsang region, and 5 to 40 mm on the 29th in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and inland Jeonbuk.
With heatwave warnings in effect across most parts of the country, daytime temperatures on the 29th will rise to around 35 degrees Celsius, making it very hot.
The expected morning low temperatures by region are 22 to 27 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs are 30 to 36 degrees Celsius.
The KMA said, "The heatwave will continue for the time being, and tropical nights will occur mainly in large cities, the west coast, the south coast, and Jeju Island. Please prepare in advance to prevent damage in health, agriculture, livestock, and fisheries."
From dawn to morning on the 29th, some inland areas and the west coast will experience fog with visibility less than 1 km, and especially areas near rivers, lakes, and valleys are expected to have dense fog.

Meanwhile, the KMA reported that on the east coast, as swells flow in, high waves may strongly hit the sandy beaches or overflow rocks and breakwaters, so special caution is required for safety accidents along the coast.
