'2021 Goyang Destination Week' to be held next month at Kintex
August 25-26 KINTEX Grand Ballroom... Hybrid On-Offline Event
Participation of Prestigious International Organizations in the Convention Field
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] '2021 Goyang Destination Week' will be held both online and offline for two days starting August 25, hosted by Goyang City at KINTEX Grand Ballroom.
The event will feature participation from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the most prestigious international organization in the convention field, the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDSI), a worldwide city sustainability network, and the global MICE consulting firm Gaining Edge.
Under the theme "MICE, Reboot the City," the opening day will host the "International Destination Competitiveness Forum," and on the second day, there will be the city marketing session "Asia Destination Round Table" and the sustainability session "GDSM Asia Pacific Forum."
Domestic and international scholars and experts in the MICE field will participate as speakers and panelists at the event.
The keynote speech on the first day will be delivered by Jeffrey Sachs, a world-renowned expert in sustainable development and professor at Columbia University, USA, on the topic of "Sustainability and Cities." This will be followed by a special dialogue with Professor Kim Cheol-won of Kyung Hee University, moderated by former UN Deputy Secretary-General Ambassador Kim Won-soo.
Through this event, the city aims to provide industry stakeholders with an opportunity to understand and enhance competitiveness in the changed MICE industry environment in the post-COVID-19 era, and to offer the general public knowledge about the evolving roles and effects of MICE.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "We will strive further to make Goyang Destination Week a leading international MICE event representing South Korea and to establish Goyang City as the 'Asian MICE Hub City.'"

Registration for the event is free, and anyone interested in MICE can participate. Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided for both days of the event.
