Suwon City to Operate 'Child Protection Team' from 26th to Respond to Child Abuse
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will establish and operate a 'Child Protection Team' starting from the 26th to promptly respond to child abuse reports and carry out various procedures such as child protection and investigation.
This measure is to actively respond to child abuse incidents occurring in the Suwon area in line with the government's plan to shift the child protection system, which was previously handled by private organizations such as child protection agencies, to the public sector.
The Child Protection Team will consist of social welfare civil servants within the city hall who will be assigned as dedicated child abuse officers.
They will be responsible for the entire process from receiving child abuse reports in the Suwon area to taking action and closing cases.
When a child abuse report requiring emergency measures occurs, the dedicated child abuse officers will immediately dispatch to the scene 24 hours a day. At the scene, they will cooperate with the police to take necessary actions such as emergency measures and temporary protection, and determine whether abuse has occurred according to procedures.
Afterwards, they will establish a protection plan and play a central role in all processes until case closure, including case management.
In particular, the Child Protection Team will establish and operate a 24-hour emergency hotline to respond immediately to suspected abuse reports. Dedicated child abuse officers will form work shifts in pairs to be at the forefront of immediate response upon receiving reports.
