Jogyuil Jinju Mayor: "We Will Create an Environment for Cultural Artists to Strengthen Capabilities and Focus on Creative Activities"
Meeting with Bollae-ro Culture Street Officials
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 22nd, Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam, held a meeting with officials from the Bollae-ro Cultural Street Operation Committee at the city hall, the city announced on the 23rd.
The meeting was attended by six people, including Ryu Min-jeong, chairman of the Cultural Street, and experts from various fields of culture and arts, where they listened to opinions and difficulties regarding the ongoing construction of the Namgang Riverside Multipurpose Cultural Center and the promotion and development of the city's culture and arts.
The Bollae-ro Cultural Street, adjacent to Gyeongsang National University and Yeonam Institute of Technology, is bustling with young people, but at night it becomes dark and sparsely populated, suffering from various types of litter.
Accordingly, since 2018, the city has developed this area into a distinctive cultural street where citizens take ownership through public-private cooperation, establishing it as a cultural and artistic street rich with performances and exhibitions throughout the four seasons, as well as a specialized space for young people.
Mayor Jo said, “Although the construction of the cultural center is somewhat delayed even now, we will strive to create an environment where artists can strengthen their capabilities and focus more on creative activities by listening to the opinions of citizens and various sectors, especially reflecting the demands of those in the arts field as much as possible.”
