'Dukyusan Dullegil' Connecting Yeonghonam Region to Be Created
Jeonbuk Muju and Jangsu Counties and Gyeongnam Hamyang and Geochang Counties Sign MOU for Deogyusan Dullegil Trail Development and Operation
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The project to create the Deogyusan Dullegil Trail, connecting the nature, local traditions, culture, and history of Yeongho and Nam regions, is set to be fully launched.
On the 22nd, Muju County announced that it signed a business agreement on the "Creation and Operation of the Deogyusan Dullegil Trail" with Jangsu County in Jeonbuk (County Head Jang Young-su), Hamyang County in Gyeongnam (County Head Seo Chun-su), and Geochang County (County Head Gu In-mo) at Muju Deogyusan Resort.
Through this agreement, the four counties promised to cooperate administratively and financially for ▲ the creation and sustainable management and operation of the Deogyusan Dullegil Trail ▲ protection of the natural scenery in the Deogyusan area ▲ discovery and restoration of valuable cultural and historical resources ▲ development of village communities around the Deogyusan Dullegil Trail.
The Deogyusan Dullegil Trail creation project, led by Muju County, aims to connect forest trails across two provinces, four counties, and 15 myeon (townships) around Deogyusan by December 2024.
The total length is 160 km, including 80 km in Muju, 20 km in Jangsu, 10 km in Hamyang, and 50 km in Geochang.
With a project budget of 8 billion KRW, facilities such as protective structures, terrain restoration, vegetation restoration, road surface maintenance, and auxiliary facilities will be installed, along with the opening and maintenance of existing and new forest trails and Dullegil guidance facilities.
The county plans to conduct basic planning services and detailed design in the first half of 2022, based on which the four counties will simultaneously place individual orders for the projects while also cooperating.
Hwang In-hong, the head of Muju County, said, "The Deogyusan Dullegil Trail creation project is a significant initiative for the expansion of forest trails and the development of a sustainable regional community through Yeongho and Nam cooperation. Considering the estimated economic inducement effect of 30 billion KRW when 100,000 visitors come annually after completion, we will do our best to create a premium forest trail."
