Daegu City Identifies 4 Entertainment Venues Violating Quarantine Rules... 2 Referred for Criminal Prosecution
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-guk] Daegu City announced on the 22nd that four businesses violating operating hours or quarantine rules were caught for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act. These businesses were caught during joint inspections conducted by the police and district/county offices from the 19th to the early morning of the 22nd.
One business in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, violated the regulation prohibiting private gatherings of nine or more people and was fined 1.5 million KRW and ordered to suspend operations for 10 days. Thirty customers were each fined 100,000 KRW.
In Dong-gu, one business violated the operating hours limited to 11 PM and its employees did not undergo PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing, resulting in criminal charges, a fine of 1.5 million KRW, and a 10-day suspension order. It was revealed that this business operated after hours by turning off the signboard lights and only allowing reserved customers inside. Seven customers, along with the owner, were also criminally charged.
Another business in Dalseo-gu was fined 1.5 million KRW for failing to prepare a user log, and yet another business operated past 11 PM without employees undergoing PCR testing, resulting in criminal charges, a fine of 1.5 million KRW, and a 10-day suspension order.
Earlier, Daegu City raised social distancing from level 1 to level 2 from the 15th to the 25th, prohibiting gatherings of nine or more people and limiting operating hours of entertainment establishments to 11 PM.
