Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Visits Vaccination Center to Deliver Cold Coffee, Cooling Vests, and Encourage Medical Staff and Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 21st, Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, visited vaccination centers and other locations to encourage medical staff and employees working in the heatwave and inspected quarantine sites.
On this day, Mayor Park brought surprise gifts such as cold coffee and ice cream to visit frontline medical sites for COVID-19 quarantine. He visited two temporary screening clinics, a public health center screening clinic, and a vaccination center consecutively. The encouragement items were delivered to 156 quarantine-related personnel.
Mayor Park thoroughly checked cooling measures for medical staff, employees, and facility visitors each time he visited the sites. In particular, he urged to re-examine the working conditions of quarantine personnel who are silently sweating and battling the heat outdoors while responding to COVID-19.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Delivers Fruit Lunchboxes to Epidemiological Investigation Team
On the afternoon of the 21st, Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, visited the epidemiological investigation team at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Public Health Center and delivered fruit lunchboxes to the workers.
Mayor Chae took this step to encourage the on-site staff who are quietly performing difficult tasks as the burden of epidemiological investigation work, such as tracking movements, has increased due to the recent surge in confirmed cases.
Previously, Yeongdeungpo-gu expanded the epidemiological investigation team from 30 to 47 members to minimize additional infection spread through same-day epidemiological investigations and to increase investigation capacity to reduce work burden.
Mayor Chae Hyun-il encouraged the staff who are fighting hard on the front lines of COVID-19 daily, saying, "I hope you take pride as field experts and do your best."

On the 21st, Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, visited environmental officers who are sweating on the field in observance of Jungbok (the hottest period of summer) and gifted them watermelons.
This was to encourage the efforts of the officers who are quietly working to create a pleasant living environment in Mapo-gu despite difficult conditions such as the heatwave and COVID-19.

Over 3,000 High School Seniors in Jungnang-gu Complete First Dose of Vaccine in Three Days
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced on the 21st that it has completed the first dose of vaccination for high school seniors and staff.
Vaccinations were conducted over three days starting from the 19th at two centers: the 1st Center (Jungnang Cultural and Sports Center) and the 2nd Center (Jungnang-gu Office), targeting 2,962 high school seniors and staff from 10 high schools and 4 alternative schools in the area.
Originally, their first dose was scheduled until the 30th of this month, but the district expedited the vaccination considering school opening dates and the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) schedule to allow students to focus on their studies.
By dividing the vaccination centers into two and conducting sequential vaccinations by school and class, vaccinations could be completed within 30 minutes per class.
The second dose will be administered sequentially from August 9 to 11, three weeks later.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, "I thank the students who actively participated in vaccination despite being busy studying. With the CSAT approaching, I hope you can put aside your worries through vaccination and concentrate on your studies."
Yangcheon-gu Implements Same-Day Emergency Passport Issuance Service
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) has been implementing a same-day emergency passport issuance service since the 6th of this month.
Emergency passports can be applied for by those without a valid passport (due to loss, expiration, etc.) who are recognized as needing urgent issuance.
If the purpose of departure is due to a relative's death, serious illness, injury, or other reasons, submitting proof documents either before or after (within six months) can result in a fee reduction.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Jung Soon-gyun of Gangnam-gu and Park Hae-woong, Vice President of Yogiyo. As part of this agreement, Gangnam-gu and Yogiyo will jointly promote pilot projects for packaging and pickup services using ‘beeswax wraps,’ an alternative eco-friendly product that can reduce disposable product usage.
