Seoul Asan Hospital, Seoul City University Life Treatment Center to Resume Operation on 21st... 520 Beds Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Seoul Asan Medical Center (Director Park Seung-il) will resume operation of the 'Seoul City University Dormitory Life Treatment Center' starting from the 21st in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 confirmed cases.
At this location, a total of about 10 medical staff including 3 doctors, 5 nurses, 1 radiologist, and 3 medical support personnel from Seoul Asan Medical Center have been dispatched to operate 520 beds. Additional medical personnel will be deployed as needed depending on the condition of patients admitted to the Life Treatment Center.
Professor Son Gi-young of the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul Asan Medical Center will serve as the dispatched team leader, overseeing medical support and taking full charge of monitoring, managing, and treating asymptomatic and mild patients until the Life Treatment Center's operation ends.
The Seoul City University Dormitory Life Treatment Center was successfully operated by Seoul City and Seoul Asan Medical Center for 52 days from December 30 last year to February 19 this year. During the operation period, a total of 377 people were admitted, 344 of whom were confirmed to have fully recovered from COVID-19 and were released from quarantine to return home. Thanks to the prompt response of the medical staff, 15 emergency patients were prevented from progressing to severe conditions.

Park Seung-il, Director of Seoul Asan Medical Center (Professor of Thoracic Surgery), said, "Through the operation of this Life Treatment Center, we will strive to prevent asymptomatic and mild confirmed patients from progressing to severe cases and ensure they recover safely and return home." He added, "We will also do our best to help the rapid recovery of critically ill COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in isolation beds at Seoul Asan Medical Center."
