From the 5th to the 6th, record-breaking heavy rain poured over Haenam and Jindo, resulting in 384 households and about 760 displaced people. More than 10,000 hectares of farmland and about 31 aquaculture farms were flooded or damaged, causing significant damage to farmers and fishermen in the Haenam and Jindo areas.
Accordingly, the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Head Park Seo-hong) decided to support 10 million KRW for wallpapering and flooring for flood-affected farms, 10,000 agricultural work health masks, and 200 boxes of COVID-19 prevention supply kits to quickly restore the damaged farms in Haenam and Jindo and to protect farmers from the recently resurging COVID-19.
Assemblyman Yoon Jae-gap said, “I am relieved to be able to extend a helping hand to the farmers of Haenam and Jindo who have been going through painful days due to the heavy rain,” and added, “I deeply appreciate the support from the Agricultural Cooperative and will do my best until the damage restoration is completed without any setbacks.”
