Home&Shopping Supports Underprivileged with Seasonal Fruits and Helps Farmers Expand Market Access 'Two Birds with One Stone'
Regular Support of Fruit Packages Worth 50 Million KRW to Seoul Child Group Home Support Center
Priority Purchase of Products from Farms Hit by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Home&Shopping (CEO Kim Ok-chan) announced on the 14th that it plans to regularly deliver seasonal fruits worth about 50 million KRW to socially marginalized children to support their health and to help farmers affected by COVID-19 with sales channels.
The seasonal fruits will be delivered to 'Group Homes' operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Child Joint Living Support Center. Group Homes are small-scale child protection facilities that provide a home-like living environment and caregiving services to children in need of protection due to family breakdown, neglect, abuse, poverty, and other reasons.
The seasonal fruits, which will be delivered monthly to 64 Group Homes (about 310 children) within Seoul, will prioritize purchasing products from farmers affected by COVID-19. This is expected to have a twofold effect by providing fresh fruits to marginalized children in Seoul while securing a stable supply channel for farmers impacted by COVID-19.

A Home&Shopping official said, "This project was planned reflecting the reality that socially marginalized children have fewer opportunities to access seasonal fruits as they spend more time at home due to COVID-19 and prices continue to rise," adding, "We will continue to pursue creative projects that can help marginalized groups, small and medium enterprises, and farmers alike."
