Lee Jun-seok: "Does Establishing the Ministry of Unification Lead to Unification?... Need to Replace the Minister Who Doesn't Work," Targeting Lee In-young
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Seoyoung] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, repeatedly called for the abolition of the Ministry of Unification.
Today (the 10th), Lee began on his Facebook by saying, "Did Taiwan, which talks about unrecovered continental territory, have an organization like the Ministry of Unification? It was the 'Mainland Affairs Council'." He explained, "Is the organization that deals with the Ministry of Unification in North Korea called a 'ministry'? It is the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland. Moreover, the Committee was originally not part of the cabinet but an organization under the Workers' Party of Korea."
Lee continued, "Just as having a Ministry of Gender Equality and Family does not resolve gender conflicts, having a Ministry of Unification does not particularly bring us closer to unification." He added, "I don't know what the Ministry of Unification has actively done under this government, but the Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office managed by the Ministry was blown up," criticizing.
He said, "I think the ministry is unable to perform its duties because its division of work is unclear, so the next government should revise the Government Organization Act," and pointed out, "If Minister Lee In-young thinks the Ministry of Unification is a necessary ministry, then the minister is not doing his job properly in that 'necessary ministry'."

Lee stated, "It is public and governmental negligence and a waste of taxpayers' money for an organization without achievements or work scope to be maintained for decades out of inertia," and sarcastically added, "As a joke, even the Ministry of Unification's YouTube channel is boring. The money spent editing videos of the minister giving flowers to employees is all taxpayers' money."
