UN Security Council Condemns Assassination of Haitian President
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) issued a statement on the 7th (local time) condemning the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Mo?se (53) and expressing condolences to his family and the people of Haiti.
In the statement, the Security Council "firmly urges all Haitian political stakeholders to refrain from acts of violence or incitement to violence," emphasizing that "all parties involved must remain calm and exercise restraint, avoiding any actions that could further provoke instability."
The Security Council also called for judicial measures against those responsible for President Mo?se's assassination.
The Security Council plans to hold a closed meeting on the 8th regarding this incident.
President Mo?se was killed by assailants at his residence on the same day.
