[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] A large fire accompanied by an explosion broke out at Jebel Ali Port, one of the global logistics hubs in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the Associated Press (AP), on the 7th (local time), a fire broke out on a container ship docked at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, UAE, with orange flames shooting up into the sky. It was reported that a massive explosion occurred during the fire.
The AP reported that the shockwave from the explosion spread throughout the city of Dubai, shaking buildings and windows even in areas 25 km away from the port.
The exact scale of the damage, including whether there were any casualties, has not yet been confirmed.
The Dubai government stated that firefighters responded urgently and the major flames have been extinguished. The port authorities said they are taking all necessary measures to ensure that ship operations are not disrupted.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. However, the Dubai Police Chief mentioned in an interview with Saudi Al Arabiya TV that the fire appears to have started on one of the container ships carrying flammable materials.
Dubai authorities only revealed that the ship where the fire started is a small vessel capable of carrying 130 containers, without providing further details.

This port is one of the global trade hubs and is considered the largest logistics port in the Middle East. It also serves as a supply route for essential goods imported throughout the UAE, including Dubai. Additionally, the four cargo ship terminals at the port can accommodate the world's largest vessels.
