American Mother of Four Wins 1.1 Billion After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine
Colorado State Vaccine Lottery Winner
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] A mother of four children in Colorado, USA, has become the final winner of the vaccine lottery. Starting with Ohio, states such as Colorado, New York, Maryland, and Oregon have competed to introduce vaccine lotteries to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates.
Jared Polis, Governor of Colorado, announced on the 7th (local time) that "Heidi Russell has become the final winner of the vaccine lottery," according to the AP News Agency. Russell, who has four children, said she would use the prize money for her children's college tuition.
Colorado invested $5 million (approximately 570.95 million KRW) in the vaccine passport program and awarded a total of five people, including Russell, $1 million each (approximately 114.19 million KRW) since last month. Residents of Colorado who received at least one dose of the vaccine were automatically entered into the lottery, and one winner was selected each week.
