[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Richard Donner, the Hollywood director and producer who directed the movie 'Superman,' has passed away at the age of 91.
CNBC reported on the 5th (local time) that "Donner's wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, confirmed his death on the same day." The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Born in New York in 1930, Donner began to gain recognition with the 1976 horror film 'The Omen' starring Gregory Peck, and directed 'Superman' in 1978, which became a worldwide blockbuster.
In addition to Superman, he directed numerous hit films, establishing himself as one of Hollywood's leading box office producers. Notable works include the adventure film 'The Goonies' produced by Steven Spielberg, the medieval fantasy film 'Ladyhawke,' and the 'Lethal Weapon' series starring Mel Gibson.
He also demonstrated his abilities as a producer through the 'X-Men' film series.

Danny Glover, an actor who appeared in Lethal Weapon, said, "Working with Director Donner and Gibson was one of the proudest moments of my career," and added, "I will be forever grateful to Donner."
