Emart24 Sells 1.43 Million Bottles of Wine in First Half of Year... "Aiming for 3 Million Bottles in 2024"
Emart24 Sells 1.43 Million Bottles of Wine in First Half of the Year... Equivalent to 5.5 Bottles Sold per Minute
Launches Two New Affordable COMO Wines Priced at 9,900 KRW to Expand Selection
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart24 sold 1.43 million bottles of wine in the first half of this year. This amount corresponds to 80% of the 1.73 million bottles sold last year. Emart24 aims to reach 3 million bottles sold by the end of this year.
On the 6th, Emart24 stated, "Wine sales in the first half of this year reached approximately 1.43 million bottles," adding, "This translates to 7,900 bottles per day, 329 bottles per hour, and 5.5 bottles per minute." With reduced outdoor activities, customers increasingly sought alcoholic beverages including wine at convenience stores. Additionally, preparing large quantities of popular wines at special prices in June, a low season, proved effective.
In the first half of this year, sales of alcoholic beverages such as wine, spirits, beer, and soju at Emart24 increased by 46.3% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest growth rate in the past three years. Notably, wine sales surged by 144% during this period.
'La Crassade,' which prepared 300,000 bottles?equivalent to 70% of local production in France?and sold them at 9,900 KRW, led wine sales by moving 260,000 bottles in June alone. Other wines selected as June's wines, including 'Josh Cabernet Sauvignon,' 'Josh Chardonnay,' and 'Petsquera Crianza,' also sold 90,000 bottles, resulting in over 350,000 bottles sold in June, despite it being the low season.
Emart24 plans to maintain customer enthusiasm through July and August to achieve its goal of selling 3 million bottles by the end of the year.
To encourage customers to continuously visit Emart24 for wine, the company offers monthly discounts through the 'Wine of the Month' event and is increasing exclusive wines available only at Emart24. This month, two new products from the exclusive brand 'COMO' (Syrah and Chianti) were launched.
'COMO Syrah' is a dry red wine made from the Syrah grape variety grown under the southern French sun in the Languedoc region of France. 'COMO Chianti' is produced by the Zibello Winery in the Colli Fiorentini area, known for its high altitude and abundant sunlight within Italy's Chianti region. This wine blends two grape varieties (Sangiovese 90%, Canaiolo 10%) and pairs well with both Western and Korean cuisine.
With this new product launch, the Emart24 COMO line has expanded to five varieties (two Cabernet Sauvignon types, Moscato, Syrah, and Chianti). Since wines from traditional wine regions in France and Italy are available year-round at 9,900 KRW, Emart24 expects to receive positive responses from both wine beginners and enthusiasts. In fact, COMO ranked 2nd (Moscato) and 4th (Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon) among Emart24’s top 5 wines in the first half of this year.
July’s Wine of the Month, with discounts up to 40%, includes 'Trapiche Pon de Cave Malbec' (11,900 KRW) and 'St. Clair Sauvignon Blanc' (25,000 KRW). The premium wine of the month is 'Frey Brothers Reserve Merlot,' sold at 37,000 KRW.
