Ministry of Foreign Affairs Requests Overseas Koreans Staying in Afghanistan to Evacuate by the End of This Month at the Latest
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has requested nationals staying in Afghanistan, where the Taliban is expanding its influence following the withdrawal of U.S. troops, to evacuate by the end of this month at the latest.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs official told reporters on the 5th, "Those who have been granted stay permits will also be required to leave within that period."
The official added, "The permit period for (those staying) is until the 30th of this month," and said, "We are requesting continuous departure even before that date, and if the period passes, we will consider taking legal action." If legal action is taken, it will be based on violations of the Passport Act.
