Police Agency Conducts Crackdown on Illegal Operations of Entertainment Venues from 3rd to 17th
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] During a police crackdown on illegal operations of entertainment establishments over the weekend, 127 people were caught violating quarantine rules.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 5th that it conducted a crackdown on illegal operations of entertainment establishments over two days starting from the 3rd, and detected 17 cases involving 127 people violating quarantine rules.
According to the police, the crackdown revealed the following by type: ▲8 cases of unlicensed entertainment bars (room salons and clubs) involving 112 people ▲4 cases of violations of the assembly ban order for entertainment facilities involving 10 people ▲5 cases of other illegal activities such as selling alcohol in karaoke rooms involving 5 people.
At around 10:30 p.m. on the 3rd, at a karaoke practice room in Songpa-gu, Seoul, 23 people including the owner and customers were caught by the police for operating an unlicensed room salon by hiring entertainment staff. Also, at around 12:10 a.m. on the same day in Gangnam-gu, 24 people including the owner of a general restaurant were caught by the police for continuing to operate an unlicensed room salon in violation of business hour restrictions.
The police notified the quarantine authorities such as the district office about the violations of quarantine rules at the respective establishments.
This crackdown is being conducted under the supervision of the National Police Agency from the 3rd to the 17th of this month to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
