According to Taiwanese media such as FTV and Liberty Times on the 5th, Chinese real estate tycoon Guo Wengui said on an internet live broadcast program on the 2nd that this was "Taiwan's greatest crisis factor."
He added, "Taiwan must thoroughly eliminate those who sell out the country and resist China."
Regarding Chinese President Xi Jinping's statement at the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, "We will crush any attempt by Taiwan independence forces and build a beautiful future of national rejuvenation together," Guo expressed concern, saying, "It seemed China is truly ready to crush Taiwan."
About Xi's references to the "1992 Consensus" (an agreement to recognize one China but use respective names) and "Both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family" and that he would not strike, Guo warned, "It is like the Communist Party deceiving Chiang Kai-shek in the past."
The live broadcast also featured Jason Miller, former senior advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as Chinese football star Hao Haidong and his wife Ye Zhaoying, a 1990s Chinese badminton star, who participated via video call.
Hao Haidong said, "When I visited the office of a top Chinese general with my wife before, I heard the general say 'There will be a war within 2 to 3 years,'" adding, "I felt that the possibility of using force against Taiwan actually exists."
FTV reported that while the Kuomintang did not comment on this, a legislator from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party expressed a stance urging Taiwanese society to unite and protect the current free Taiwan.
