Women’s bodies found undressed in succession... "Request for reinvestigation" 청와대 petition
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A national petition demanding a reinvestigation into a series of cases involving female bodies found with their clothes removed has emerged as such incidents continue to be discovered.
On the 2nd, a petition titled "Please reinvestigate the serial murder cases disguised as suicides where victims were found with their clothes removed" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board. The petitioner cited three commonalities and requested a reinvestigation of five cases that have occurred since last year.
The first case mentioned by the petitioner occurred on December 4th last year, when a woman in her 60s was found with her lower garments removed at a temple in Sosu-myeon, Goesan-gun, Chungbuk Province. The second case involved a woman in her 20s found dead with some of her clothes removed in a rice paddy field in Gongju-si, Chungnam Province, on January 25th.
The third case was on January 31st, when two female bodies were found with their clothes removed near a stream in an ecological park in Cheongyang-gun, Chungnam Province. The fourth case occurred on May 12th, when the body of a woman in her 20s was found with her shoes and lower garments removed in an orchard in Sang-gwan-myeon, Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk Province.
Finally, the fifth case involved two women in their 20s found dead on the 1st in an open construction site area in Pojung-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu. Among them, one was found with her clothes removed and bruises all over her body.
The petitioner pointed out the commonalities among these five cases: all victims were female, all were found with some of their clothes removed, and the investigations were closed without suspicion of homicide.
He stated, "Despite all victims being found with their clothes removed in secluded areas, the investigations were abruptly closed on the grounds that there was no suspicion of homicide," and raised concerns, saying, "There are many suspicious aspects that make it hard to simply regard these as suicide cases."
He further noted, "In particular, in the last case in Jung-gu, Daegu, the victim had bruises all over her body and bleeding in her ears. To say there is no suspicion of homicide in this case means the victim took off her clothes herself, beat herself all over, and then died," he pointed out.
He added, "This does not make sense logically. It should be considered a homicide disguised as suicide," and urged, "Given the similar circumstances of death among the victims, there is a strong possibility of a serial murder case. We demand a thorough reinvestigation of these cases, which were prematurely closed as suicides, with the possibility of homicide in mind."
