Deloitte Anjin Successfully Concludes Seminar on International Regulatory Response Strategies in Maritime Sector
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] Deloitte Anjin Accounting Corporation announced that it held a seminar on rapidly changing international regulatory trends and response measures in the maritime sector, jointly conducted with the Korea Register of Shipping, the only domestic classification society, and Orange Security, a cybersecurity specialist company in the maritime field.
This seminar was organized to proactively understand international regulatory trends and share response measures as regulations related to the maritime industry are rapidly changing, including environmental regulations related to decarbonization, the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, and changes in domestic cybersecurity certification systems.
The seminar shared in-depth information on expected changes in the maritime business environment following the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s adoption of a plan to reduce carbon emissions by 2% annually from 2023 to 2026, the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act starting January 27 next year, and trends and response measures regarding regulations and certifications related to the digitalization of shipbuilding and shipping industries accelerated by COVID-19.
Presentations included "Measures for Carbon Neutrality" by Kang-woo Cheon, team leader at Korea Register of Shipping, "International Trends in Cybersecurity in the Digitalization Era" by Gaemyeong Park, team leader at Korea Register of Shipping, and "Cyber Risk Construction Cases" by Seongmin Choi, CEO of Orange Security.
Jae-sung Lee, partner of Deloitte Anjin's Finance Headquarters, introduced "Data Management Measures for Regulatory and Dispute Response." Chang-sung Lee, director of Deloitte Anjin's Finance Headquarters, shared detailed information based on real cases regarding response measures in investigations and accidents caused by regulations.
