‘Golf Queen’ Park In-bi (33, KB Financial Group) expressed her determination as she heads to the Tokyo Olympics. On the 30th, through her management company Wow Management Group, she said, "Competing in my second Olympics has been a big dream and the most important goal this year," adding, "I take pride in having maintained good form over the five years since the Rio Olympics." Women's golf became an official event again at the 2016 Rio Olympics after 116 years since 1900, and Park In-bi proudly wore the gold medal around her neck.
In March, she secured her 21st career victory at the LPGA Tour's Kia Classic and earned her spot in the Olympics as the world No. 3. Park In-bi, who said, "Being selected for the Korean national team is a highly competitive position, so I feel an even greater sense of responsibility and will work hard," added, "During my first Olympics, I had no experience and my condition was not the best. This time, based on the experience from five years ago, I can relieve some of the pressure and compete with a more relaxed mindset."
"The Olympics, held once every four years, and the five major tournaments held annually feel different because the opportunities themselves are different," she explained. "Winning an Olympic gold medal requires the peak of an athlete’s career and perfect timing, and since the chances are limited, it creates a more desperate feeling." She recalled, "Because it’s not an opportunity that comes easily, it feels much more precious, and the moment the national anthem played with the gold medal was an incomparable sense of achievement."
