"Eliminating Kiosk Usage Inconveniences" Ministry of Science and ICT Launches Research Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 30th that it has formed a research team and held the first meeting to discuss measures to improve kiosk information accessibility and to establish concrete action tasks.
The research team consists of a total of 20 members, including 7 academic experts in law and technical standards, 6 manufacturers and operators, and 2 disability organizations. Based on citizen ideas and expert opinions collected regarding kiosk usage inconveniences, the team plans to analyze advanced overseas cases and discover and promote specific policy tasks such as improving related systems and standards and expanding private sector adoption.
Furthermore, the research team plans to discuss various topics including ▲ follow-up measures after implementing a priority purchasing system for accessibility-guaranteed products, ▲ revision of the 'Public Terminal Accessibility Guidelines,' and ▲ development and dissemination plans for user interface (UI) models by kiosk type.

Park Yoon-gyu, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, who presided over the meeting, stated, “It is important that intelligent information products like kiosks guarantee accessibility from the design and manufacturing stages,” and added, “We will operate this research team effectively and cooperate with related ministries to swiftly promote system improvements that lead to changes that the public can feel in a short period of time.”
