Artist Introduction Videos and More... Providing Information Lacking Offline
"Shinsegae Department Store App, Beyond Shopping Information to a Lifestyle Platform"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Various artworks exhibited at Shinsegae Department Store can now be enjoyed on mobile as well.
On the 30th, Shinsegae announced that it has newly established a space called 'Shinsegae Art Space' within the department store application to reach a wider range of customers. In the online Shinsegae Art Space, visitors can not only view artworks but also access basic information about the artists and introduction videos. This enhances accessibility by providing more information that was lacking in the existing offline space.
The pop art exhibition on display at the main store’s main building until September 25 can also be experienced on mobile. This group exhibition, planned under the name 'HAPPY POP,' features works by famous international pop artists all in one place. It is currently ongoing from the basement 1st floor to the 5th floor of the Art Wall Gallery in the main building of the main store.
In 'Shinsegae Art Space,' works by participating artists Alex Katz, Julian Opie, John Bergmann, David Shrigley, and Takashi Murakami are highlighted. Alex Katz is a representative contemporary artist and considered one of the most American painters. From the 1950s to now, well into his nineties, he shows simple and bold compositions through paintings and drawings. British pop artist Julian Opie is known for his strong contour lines and collage-style paintings. He is a popular artist who closely observes people around him and creates 'paintings you want to hang in your room.'
John Bergmann was born in the UK and is currently based in New York, USA. He is famous for his painting technique called 'Doodle.' British artist David Shrigley combines simple phrases with doodle-like images depicting everyday subjects such as animals, people, and aliens, creating humor. Takashi Murakami, called the 'Andy Warhol of Japan,' creates works by borrowing popular culture images like cartoons and animations. He maximizes popular imagination using fantasy characters and Japanese culture.
Shinsegae Department Store emphasized that the app is being upgraded from providing shopping information to a diverse cultural and artistic platform. It is engaging in differentiated marketing by offering not only brand discount information but also the latest trends and humanities knowledge. Recently, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation with Genie Music and plans to launch a dedicated Genie Music section in the department store app by the end of July. It will provide playlists, magazines, videos, and more based on monthly music themes.
