Seongbuk-dong Residents in Seongbuk-gu Create Community Participation Flower Beds in Street Gardens
Seongbuk-dong 142-1 Area Newly Transformed into a Vibrant Street Garden Full of Diverse Attractions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Seungro Lee) is promoting the "Seongbuk-dong Street Garden Landscape Improvement Project," which renovates the area around 142-1 Seongbuk-dong into a vibrant street garden full of diverse attractions, transforming it into a street filled with sights throughout all four seasons.
As part of this project, a resident-participation flowerbed, created and maintained together with residents, was established on the 26th.
The Seongbuk-dong street garden, located along a 250-meter stretch around 142 Seongbuk-dong, consists of flowerbed planter facilities and various trees and flowers. However, due to monotonous planting patterns and poor vegetation conditions, exposure of barren land has worsened. Since this month, a landscape improvement project has been underway, aiming to create garden-style flowerbeds, flowering tree flowerbeds, and participatory flowerbeds.
On the 26th, together with the Seongbuk-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee and local residents, 159 small trees of 4 species including Mancheop Sancheoljjuk (Rhododendron mucronulatum) and 420 herbaceous plants of 2 species including Eunsacho were planted to create the participatory flowerbed.
The flowerbed created in this way allows for sustainable management through voluntary participation of residents and holds greater significance as a flowerbed made and nurtured together.
