Yeosu-si's Live Commerce Online Broadcast of Sweet Corn Draws Attention
Expectations for Increased Awareness and Loyal Customer Acquisition of 'Yeosu Chaloksusu' through Online Promotion and Sales
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, has rolled up its sleeves to promote and expand sales of glutinous corn, a representative local agricultural specialty, through its local industry development project.
According to Yeosu City on the 18th, the chewy and delightful Yeosu glutinous corn will be available twice via Naver Shopping Live broadcasts at 8 PM on June 21 and 6 PM on July 3.
Live commerce is an online real-time broadcasting method that introduces and sells products while communicating with consumers. It is a rapidly growing shopping platform due to the increase in non-face-to-face consumption caused by COVID-19.
The glutinous corn being sold this time is a domestically developed Non-GMO (non-genetically modified) variety called Mibaek No. 2, known for its sticky and chewy texture. Additionally, the glutinous corn syrup, commercialized this year, will be ambitiously introduced during the July 3 broadcast.
A city official stated, “We initially planned offline events to increase consumer awareness of Yeosu corn and expand sales channels to help improve farmers' income, but due to COVID-19, we prepared live commerce,” adding, “We hope for much interest and purchases from consumers.”
