Lee Jun-seok "Military Service Allegations? Story Ended 10 Years Ago... Embarrassed by Criticism from Ruling Party Supreme Council Member"
Military Manpower Administration, Prosecutors Handled but No Charges Filed
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, explained the military service-related allegations raised by the Democratic Party of Korea as "a matter that ended 10 years ago." He introduced that although Assemblyman Kang Yong-seok raised the issue, the Military Manpower Administration and the prosecution concluded that there was no problem.
On the 18th, Lee stated through social media (SNS), "Democratic Party Assemblyman Kim Yong-min raised military service allegations against me after listening to what YouTubers said, but this is a matter that ended 10 years ago," adding, "When I applied for the Software Maestro program, I inquired with the Military Manpower Administration and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and confirmed everything before applying."
He said, "The Military Manpower Administration said there was no problem 10 years ago, and when Assemblyman Kang Yong-seok at the time filed a complaint, the prosecution reviewed it again and found no issues," and introduced, "The Software Maestro training location was 1 km away from our company, and I told the president that I would go learn Android-related technology, which was becoming popular at the time, and received approval. I applied as a 'graduate' to the Military Manpower Administration and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, passed, received training, and accurately handled leave and outings."
He also explained that the prosecution had examined this matter.
Regarding this, Lee attached an article containing information that the prosecution had dismissed the charges of unauthorized absence during military service raised by former Assemblyman Kang in 2012.
Lee expressed discomfort, saying, "It is quite embarrassing when someone who is a Supreme Council member does such a thing right after discussing cooperation with Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party."
