Austria's First Lady Emphasizes Cultural and Artistic Exchange... Vienna Art History Museum, Austria's Largest Scale
[Austria (Vienna) = Joint Press Corps] On the 14th (local time), First Lady Kim Jung-sook visited the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna with Doris Schmidauer, the First Lady of Austria, and viewed the 'Joseon Prince's Armor' among other exhibits.
Im Se-eun, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, explained, "The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, opened in 1891, is Austria's largest art history museum, exhibiting an extensive collection ranging from ancient Egypt and Roman times to the 18th century, including over 7,000 paintings," adding, "Notably, the 'Joseon Prince's Armor,' a gift from Emperor Gojong to Emperor Franz Joseph I, is currently on display."
First Lady Kim expressed her gratitude regarding the Korean audio guide. Deputy Spokesperson Im conveyed, "While viewing the Joseon Prince's Armor in the special exhibition hall, First Lady Kim remarked that it is remarkable how well the gift from 129 years ago has been preserved as if it were received just yesterday," and added, "She said it seems that the relationship between Korea and Austria can develop even more closely."
Museum Director Sabine Haag expressed her intention to hold a special exhibition in Korea next year to commemorate the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations, wishing to include the Joseon Prince's armor and helmet in the exhibition. First Lady Kim said she would assist so that the Korean government and embassy could cooperate well.
Meanwhile, while explaining the dragon pattern on the helmet of the Joseon Dynasty armor, First Lady Kim conveyed that the dragon symbolizes rain and clouds, and since it was an agricultural society from a very long time ago, it represents a wish for abundance.
