'Daejeon City, with an average of 21 daily confirmed cases, conducts special COVID-19 quarantine inspections'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will conduct a large-scale special COVID-19 quarantine inspection in cooperation with related organizations. This is to respond to prevent the infectious disease from re-emerging in the local community, reflecting the recent increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases.
According to the city on the 10th, a total of 192 confirmed cases were reported in the region from the 1st to the 9th of this month. This means an average of 21.3 people were confirmed positive per day. In particular, on the 4th, 31 confirmed cases were reported in one day, causing concern among quarantine authorities.
Accordingly, the city plans to conduct a large-scale quarantine inspection targeting about 26,000 locations including entertainment facilities, restaurants, singing practice rooms, sports facilities, and religious facilities within the city by the 22nd.
About 2,000 public officials from the city hall and business offices, five autonomous districts, and the Daejeon Police Agency will participate in the inspection. The city explained that teams of 2 to 3 people will focus on checking whether the inspected facilities are complying with quarantine rules such as maintaining visitor logs, wearing masks, and adhering to the allowed number of users.
For entertainment facilities, the focus will be on whether dancing and movement between tables and rooms occur. In restaurants, acts such as dancing and singing in similar emotional pubs will be monitored, and distancing between tables (including whether partitions are installed) will also be inspected.
Singing practice rooms will be checked for visitor log maintenance, compliance with the allowed number of users (4㎡ per person), and whether food or drinks are consumed. Sports facilities will be closely monitored for mask-wearing, food consumption, and prohibition of gatherings after using the facilities.
Religious facilities are prohibited from holding small group meetings and educational sessions, and food consumption is not allowed.
The city emphasized that although the recent trend in confirmed cases meets the conditions for raising the social distancing level, it is conducting this special quarantine inspection considering the local economic situation and citizen fatigue comprehensively.
