Ayodhya is a city presumed to be the hometown of Heo Hwang-ok, the princess of Ayuta Kingdom in India who married King Kim Suro, the founder of Garak Kingdom in the Gimhae region 2,000 years ago, and the progenitor of the Heo clan in Gimhae.
The oxygen generators were sent by air on the 6th, arrived at New Delhi Airport on the same day, handed over to Ayodhya city officials, and will be used in Ayodhya's public medical institutions.
Currently, India is recording a historic high with over 400,000 new daily COVID-19 cases, causing a collapse of the medical system and a shortage of oxygen, resulting in numerous deaths.
Although the recently severe situation is showing signs of easing, the daily death toll still reaches 3,000. In this situation, Mayor Heo Seong-gon ordered that emergency relief supplies be delivered directly to Ayodhya. Typically, support to India must go through the Indian Red Cross, making designated support to specific regions difficult.
However, the city, together with the Embassy of India in Korea, sought a way and succeeded in delivering the supplies directly to Ayodhya.
Mayor Heo said, "There is a saying that a true friend is one who helps in difficult times. We must share the pain of our sister city and overcome this crisis together. I hope our small help will be a strength for Ayodhya to overcome the COVID-19 situation."

Deputy Ambassador Sanjib Kumar Sinha of the Embassy of India in Korea said, "On behalf of the Indian Embassy, I sincerely thank Gimhae City for supporting oxygen generators. Oxygen generators, which can save the lives of many Ayodhya citizens still facing many infections, hold great significance. Through this donation, the relationship between India and Gimhae will become even stronger."
