On the midnight of the 27th of last month, Kim witnessed a woman taking off her shoes and entering the Han River near Gwangjin Bridge in Gwangnaru Hangang Park, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, while taking a walk, and jumped into the water to rescue her.
At the time, the Han River had strong currents due to rain the previous day, and the weather was dark and chilly. The person being rescued was being swept into deep water.
Kim said, "It was a situation where even a slight delay could be dangerous, so I went through the darkness and the current with the thought that I must save a life at all costs. I am relieved to have saved a precious life."
