COVID-19 Cases Remain in the 600s for Two Consecutive Days... 403,780 Vaccinations Administered Yesterday (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Sojeong] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases in South Korea remained in the 600s for the second consecutive day.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the 3rd, 681 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed domestically, bringing the total to 142,157.
Of these, 672 cases were locally transmitted, and 9 were imported from overseas.
By region, Seoul reported 215 cases, Gyeonggi 207, and Incheon 22, totaling 444 cases in the metropolitan area.
In non-metropolitan areas, cases were reported nationwide: Daegu 73, Busan 32, Gyeongnam 23, Gangwon 16, Daejeon 15, Chungnam 13, Jeju 12, Jeonbuk 12, Gyeongbuk 11, Ulsan 8, Chungbuk 5, Gwangju 4, Jeonnam 3, and Sejong 1.
Among the 9 imported cases, 3 were identified during quarantine, and the remaining 6 were confirmed in the local community. Two were Korean nationals, and seven were foreigners.
The number of critically ill patients is 149. The death toll increased by 3 from the previous day, reaching a cumulative total of 1,968, with a fatality rate of 1.38%.
The number of newly released from isolation increased by 631, bringing the total to 132,699.
The number of suspected cases tested was 37,974. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 34,335 tests were conducted, resulting in 103 confirmed cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 4,740 tests were conducted, identifying 8 confirmed cases. The total number of tests conducted was 77,049.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, 403,780 people received COVID-19 vaccinations the previous day.
There were 381,551 new first-dose vaccinations, bringing the total number of people who have received the first dose to 6,741,993. The first-dose vaccination rate relative to the population is 13.1%.

There were 22,229 new second-dose vaccinations, with a total of 2,220,728 people having completed the vaccination. The vaccination completion rate relative to the population is 4.3%.
