Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly Member Sangin Lee Passes Standing Committee Review on Gyeongnam Digital Sex Crime Victim Support Ordinance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Lee Sang-in, a member of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council's Construction and Firefighting Committee (Changwon 11, Democratic Party), who is the chief proposer of the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Digital Sex Crime Prevention and Victim Support Ordinance,' is set to have the ordinance approved at the plenary session on the 17th.
Lee Sang-in stated that the ordinance was enacted to contribute to the eradication of digital sex crimes amid the growing social issue of digital sex crimes.
The main contents of the ordinance stipulate the governor's responsibilities for preventing digital sex crimes and protecting victims, allowing for the establishment of prevention plans, related surveys, and projects. It also regulates matters such as measures to prevent the distribution of illegal recordings.
The ordinance includes provisions for establishing a system to report discovered sexual exploitation materials, digital sex crime awareness improvement education and publicity, and the establishment of a cooperative system among related agencies for efficient support.
During the review, provisions regarding active measures to prevent the distribution of digital sexual exploitation materials, designation of responsible persons, and reporting obligations were relaxed, as it was judged that a basis in higher laws was necessary.
