Construction of Goyang City New Office Passes 'Gyeonggi-do Investment Review'
Construction Scheduled for 2023 in the Area of Jugyo 1st Public Parking Lot
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Following the passage of the Goyang City New City Hall construction project through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's feasibility study last April, it also passed the Gyeonggi Province Local Finance Investment Review yesterday (1st).
With this, the administrative review process regarding the necessity of the new city hall construction project, as well as its financial and economic feasibility, has been completed.
Additionally, the 'Public Property Management Plan' for the purchase of the new city hall building and site was approved by the city council on the 17th of last month, enabling the city to secure the related budget basis and accelerate the city hall construction project.
According to the city on the 2nd, the new city hall construction project, with a total budget of 295 billion KRW and a total floor area of 73,946㎡, is scheduled to finalize the architectural plan in January next year after an international design competition in September.
Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Goyang City, stated, "Most of the administrative procedures have been completed and we have secured over 100 billion KRW in budget, so we will do our best to ensure there are no setbacks in the plan to start construction within this year."
He added, "Building the new city hall means starting another century," and said, "We look forward to a new city hall that leads the future at the starting point of a century."
The Goyang City New City Hall is planned to begin construction in 2023 on the site of Jugyo No. 1 Public Parking Lot and be completed in 2025.

Meanwhile, the investment plan for the new city hall submitted by the city reflected the necessity and appropriateness of the budget and proposed an efficient and citizen-centered direction for the city hall construction, considering citizen convenience.
