According to Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Im Jae-su) on the 2nd, at 1:12 p.m. on the 1st, a coastal set net fishing vessel A (27 tons, Mokpo-registered, 8 crew members) ran aground on a reef while returning to port after fishing near Jaeundo, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, and a report was received that flooding was occurring.
The Coast Guard quickly dispatched patrol ships, the Sinan Police Substation rescue team, and the West Sea Special Rescue Unit to the scene, and communicated with the captain of vessel A to instruct the crew to wear life jackets in preparation for secondary accidents.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Coast Guard boarded vessel A, sealed the fuel valve and air vent, and carried out pumping and waterproofing operations.
Mokpo Coast Guard reported that no casualties or marine pollution damage occurred, and vessel A was safely brought into Mokpo South Port around 5:15 p.m. that day.
